Your First Visit to Our Shawnee Practice

People often tell us how "nice and homey" our office is. This is exactly the type of family atmosphere we want here at Cornerstone Chiropractic & Wellness Center.

Shawnee Chiropractor

You'll be greeted by friendly staff who will make you feel at home. They will offer new patients paperwork to fill out. New patients will then proceed to the exam room for a thorough examination consisting of history, orthopedic, neurologic, and nutrition evaluation. A sEMG evaluation will also be performed to identify nerve dysfunction.

At that time it will be determined if x-rays are necessary to take (if you didn't bring in previous x-rays taken). We take x-rays in our radiographic suite within our office. A report of findings is performed to determine our plan of action and x-rays are reviewed with you. The first chiropractic treatment is executed if time permits. New patients always appreciate the amount of time we dedicate to them.

Take a look to see what to expect during your regular visits.

Dr. Chaffin Asks some important questions of interest to Shawnee residents - Chiropractor Shawnee Dr. Chaffin Asks...

Why is a "slipped disc" unlikely?
Separating each spinal vertebra is a disc. Its fibrous outer ring holds in a jelly-like material. Because of the way a disc attaches to the spinal bones above and below it, it can't actually "slip." However, a disc can bulge, tear, herniate, thin and collapse. But it can't slip.
How long does it take to form a bone spur?
Many who begin chiropractic care think their problem happened "last week when you bent over funny." But pictures of the spine tell a different story. Chiropractors know it can take your body years to deposit the calcium necessary to form a bone spur. It's your body's response to stress due to gravity or joint malfunction. And chiropractic care can help.
